Privacy Policy
Last updated October 27, 2026
This policy explains what information Hirbo ("we", "us"), collects through hirbo.com and the Hirbo software, how it's used, and the choices you have. Hirbo is software for repair shops. It's used by shops (our customers) to run their counters, so this policy covers two kinds of information: information about the shops and people who use Hirbo, and information shops keep in Hirbo about their own customers.
1. Information we collect
When you visit hirbo.com or join the founding list. If you sign up, we collect the email address and shop name you type. The list is run by our email provider, Kit, which sends a confirmation email and keeps the list for us. Like any website, our servers and providers may record basic technical details such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you open. hirbo.com loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address. We don't use advertising cookies or ad trackers.
When a shop uses Hirbo. We collect what's needed to run the shop's account: the business's name, address and phone number, the names, email addresses and roles of its staff, sign-in records, and billing details. Subscription payments are handled by our payment processor; we don't store full card numbers.
Information shops keep about their customers. Shops use Hirbo to keep records about their own customers, such as names, phone numbers, email and mailing addresses, the devices they bring in (including serial numbers and IMEIs), repair notes and photos, signatures on the shop's terms, texts and emails with the shop, payment records, and shipping addresses. If a shop uses the phone add-on, Hirbo also handles caller ID information, call recordings, transcripts and summaries of calls. Card numbers are entered into the shop's card terminal or payment page, handled by the card processor, and never stored by Hirbo.
2. How we use information
- To provide, run, secure and improve Hirbo, and to support shops that use it
- To set up accounts, move a shop's data in from other software when they ask us to, and bill for subscriptions
- To send service messages, such as sign-in codes, account notices and important changes
- To tell people on the founding list about Hirbo. Every email has a link to unsubscribe.
- To meet legal obligations and to protect Hirbo, our customers and the public
3. Shops' customer information
A shop's customer records belong to the shop. We handle them only to provide Hirbo to that shop, following the shop's instructions, and we don't use them for our own marketing. Each shop is responsible for telling its customers how it uses their information and for getting any consent the law requires, for example before texting a customer or recording a call. If you're a customer of a shop that uses Hirbo and you have a question or request about your information, please contact the shop. If you contact us, we'll pass your request to the shop.
4. Who we share information with
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run Hirbo, under agreements that limit how they can use it: hosting and backup providers; email providers; text-message and phone carriers; voice and AI providers that answer after-hours calls and make transcripts and summaries; card processors the shop chooses (such as Helcim or BlockChyp); shipping-label providers (such as Shippo); parts suppliers a shop connects; and Kit for our founding list.
- The shop's own connected accounts, when the shop connects them (for example its card processor, phone carrier, email or supplier accounts).
- Legal and safety reasons, when required by law, a court order or a valid legal request, or to protect rights, property or safety.
- A business transfer, such as a merger or sale of Hirbo, in which case this policy continues to apply to information already collected.
5. How long we keep information
We keep a shop's information for as long as its account is open. If a shop cancels, it has 30 days to export its data. After that, we delete the shop's data from Hirbo, and remaining copies in our backups are overwritten on their normal schedule within 60 days. We may keep billing records and anything else we're required to keep by law. Founding-list emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
6. Security
We protect information with measures such as encrypted connections, hashed passwords, encrypted storage of account keys, separate data for each shop, access limited to people who need it, and regular backups. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't promise that information will never be accessed without permission. If a breach affects your information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
7. Your rights and choices
You can unsubscribe from founding-list emails at any time using the link in any email. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose; to request a copy of it; to correct it; to ask us to delete it; and not to be treated differently for using these rights. Since we don't sell or share personal information for advertising, there's nothing to opt out of. To make a request, contact us below. We'll confirm your identity before acting on it, and you may use an authorized agent. If your request concerns a shop's customer records, we'll send it to that shop.
8. Children
Hirbo is a tool for businesses. hirbo.com isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information from them. Shops may keep records about customers of any age as part of a repair.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let shops know by email or in Hirbo before it takes effect.
